Stress Less

Below you will find information about Stress Less, an online CBT intervention for exam and study stress.

What is Stress Less?

Stress Less is an online intervention developed by psychological therapists working in the Centre for Psychological Therapies (CPT), at the University of Edinburgh. This intervention supports pupils who experience exam and study stress. This intervention was piloted in two Edinburgh High Schools in early 2025 and opened to all Edinburgh pupils of exam age last year.

Who is it for?

We are excited to offer this CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) intervention to pupils from all Lothian schools.

Whilst we recognise that some pupils may have significant mental health needs, it’s important to note that Stress Less is a low-intensity intervention focused specifically on exam and study stress. Due to its online nature and targeted scope, we carefully screen for mental health risks.

When are the sessions?

This is a 1:1 intervention, delivered online by trainee CBT therapists (under the supervision of experienced, qualified therapists). Sessions are available between 1pm – 6pm on Mondays and Thursdays. Please be aware there are a limited number of spaces available for this intervention.
