School Community and Peer Support

Find out about our School community including representation, community events and funding

Student representatives and the student community leader work with University staff to ensure your views are heard and acted upon. They will offer opportunities to meet other students and to develop a experience of community within your programme of study and the School.

Many opportunities to make connections are created through learning and teaching, including working in small groups and engaging in discussions. By collaborating with others you are part of a community who will share your learning journey. Students are also encouraged to run their own events and activities.

There are formal avenues for sharing feedback through Programme Representatives, the Staff Student Liaison Committees and surveys.

There are also many informal community-building opportunities across the University. Check out the below for future events, seminars, recreational and sporting activities:

You can also follow us on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn to keep up-to-date on our latest School updates.

Think about how you can be involved.

School Community Group

The School Community Group shares valuable ideas and feedback on community building initiatives and plans and delivers peer-led activities and events throughout the year to enhance students’ experience and our school community. Recent initiatives from the group are school merchandise, a school cookbook, and our Let’s Network event. Participation in the group is open to everyone on a voluntary basis and active membership will be recognised on your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR). The group meets every 2 months and anyone who is interested in joining, please get in touch with the Student Experience staff at StudentExperience-HiSS@ed.ac.uk.
