Entry Requirements (FASD)

The course is designed for those directly involved in the assessment and diagnosis of FASD specifically; Medical professionals, Clinical or Educational Psychologists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology and Social Workers. Other professionals will also find the content relevant to their work including; Midwives, Health visitors and teachers working with special educational needs. Applicants should be in possession of a current registration with an appropriate accrediting professional body or national organisation.

The course is also relevant for those working in public health, including management, and policy makers.  Students should have a rudimentary knowledge of standardised assessments which involve scoring and analysis, e.g., use of percentiles, scaled or standard scores. Please contact the course administrator should you require further information in advance of submitting your application.

Because of the complexity of the outcomes related to PAE, international guidelines specify a multidisciplinary team is essential for an accurate and comprehensive assessment and subsequent management recommendations. Applicants should understand that completion of this course will not qualify them to unilaterally undertake diagnostic assessments in the absence of a multidisciplinary team.

 

If English is not the student's first language, evidence of written and spoken English competency must be provided. Evidence of English language competency can include:

A) A degree from a university in an English-speaking majority country,OR

B) We accept the following English language qualifications at the grades specified:

  • IELTS Academic: total 7.0 with at least 6.5 in each component.
  • TOEFL-iBT (including Home Edition): total 100 with at least 23 in each component. We do not accept TOEFL MyBest Score to meet our English language requirements.
  • C1 Advanced (CAE) / C2 Proficiency (CPE): total 185 with at least 176 in each component.
  • Trinity ISE: ISE III with passes in all four components.
  • PTE Academic: total 70 with at least 62 in each component.

Your English language qualification must be no more than three and a half years old from the start date of the programme you are applying to study, unless you are using IELTS, TOEFL, Trinity ISE or PTE, in which case it must be no more than two years old.

Course Fees for the 2024/25 academic year

Students who take this course as CPD 'for credit' will incur a fee of £1,690.

Students who take this course as CPD 'not for credit' will incur a fee of £895.

Course Fees for the 2025/26 academic year

Students who take this course as CPD ‘for credit’ will incur a fee of £2,125.

Students who take this course as CPD ‘not for credit’ will incur a fee of £945.
