About Us

Located in the heart of Edinburgh, the School of Health in Social Science is a dynamic and inclusive environment for learning, teaching and research within the University of Edinburgh’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

The School of Health in Social Science was formally established in 2002 but its origins can be traced back to 1956 when Edinburgh became the first university in Europe to establish a dedicated Nursing Training Unit.

Our School brings together the departments of Nursing Studies, Clinical and Health Psychology and Counselling, Psychotherapy and Applied Social Sciences.

We offer a range of programmes for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. We also provide a growing selection of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses and online distance learning opportunities.
