We also asked for love, a seminar on imagined portraits

Imagined portraits urges scholars to bring the body ‘back’ in to research in social science. Using the project ‘we also asked for love’ as an illustration of this methodological approach to research, Edgar Rodríguez-Dorans explores the significance of the body to analysing narrative data and disseminating research findings. He does so by bringing in work by Patricia Clough on affect theory and how it can provide an alternative to explore the politics of research that is heavily centred on language, digital technologies, and the written word. Through narrative portraits by Eleonora Scalise, Edgar illustrates the process of portraying embodied affect and how it can be used in combination with narrative research.
