Research Bow, our PGR community blog, secures funding to support growth and host workshops. The Student Experience Grants are one-off contributions to support innovative projects and initiatives that will enhance students’ social, academic, entrepreneurial, sporting or cultural development. This year Research Bow applied for funding to support their growth and help with their idea of hosting some exciting workshops. Research Bow was developed in 2019 by PGR student Aigli Raouna who wanted to add to the PGR community in the School by creating a platform to share advice, stories and news with her fellow students. Since then, Research Bow has grown with the help of a core team of fellow students and lots of engaging contributors across the School. The core Research Bow team now includes: SiennaMarisa Brown and Raahat Manrai, co-editors, contributors and proofreaders Tine Opitz, co-editor and contributor Sofia Alvarado, co-editor, contributor, and social media manager Clarissa Catherine, social media manager and contributor Catarina Gaglianone, contributor From March, the team are planning on organising four creative and interactive monthly workshops open to PGR students in the School: How to do an infographic report Introduction to Graphic Design: Posters and Animated Videos Bake your PhD Clay your PhD The team hope these workshops will encourage and support more of the PGR community in the School to get involved and write for the blog sharing their research findings, experiences, and ideas in a clear, simple, and engaging way. They also plan to use part of the funding to update the template of our their blog and get an annual subscription to a graphic design platform. This should support their goal of expanding their blog, enhancing the user experience by improving the layout of our website, creating better visualisation, and compelling blog content. We are excited about this funding not only because it will give us the opportunity to learn new skills but also because it will offer us the chance to do things together as a PGR community, be creative and discuss about our research in an innovative and fun way- and this is very much needed during this period."
