Esteemed alumna returns for a special seminar

Nursing studies have the pleasure of welcoming Anne Marie Rafferty to the school for a seminar, “The Power of Education”.

This is an opportunity to hear from a highly respected alumna with a wealth of interdisciplinary expertise and knowledge across nursing and other areas.

"This seminar will consider the sometimes subtle and slow burn contribution of education and the assemblage of diverse inputs; people, places and practices that input into the process. It will consider the implications each of these hold for designing workforce transformation and developing a sustainable leadership model for the future."

Anne Marie Rafferty is a Professor of Nursing Policy at King’s College London and is currently running for Royal College of Nursing president. She was the first nurse to gain a doctorate (DPhil Modern History) from Oxford University and was awarded a CBE for services to healthcare in 2008.

This seminar will be of interest to current staff and students from a variety of disciplines and is a talk that should not be missed. Head of Nursing Studies Aisha Holloway, is particularly excited to welcome her back to the University, "We are absolutely delighted to welcome our alumna, Anne Marie back here with us in Nursing Studies at The University of Edinburgh. Her career and contribution to the nursing profession has been outstanding, at the highest level of thinking and influence. She is held in the highest regard both here in the U.K. but also globally and is an exemplar of what nursing can achieve. My message to colleagues and students alike, come along and be challenged, encouraged and inspired by her
