Congratulations to Nursing Studies, who came top of the Guardian UK University League Table 2023 last month in the category of Nursing and Midwifery. Our BN (hons) Nursing programme has yet again topped the charts, scoring 100% on the Guardian Excellence rating for the fifth time in a row. The Guardian Excellence rating is comprised of a combination of factors including staff to student ratios, average entry tariffs and career prospect data. As one of the first universities to offer a nursing degree in the UK, the University of Edinburgh has a long tradition of preparing graduate nurses. Its graduates are highly regarded both nationally and internationally in the nursing profession. Our undergraduate BN (hons) Nursing is a four-year programme which leads to a Bachelor of Nursing degree and registration as a nurse (adult branch). The programme aims to produce graduate nurses who reflect the philosophy and values underpinning the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) requirements for registration. The programme currently recruits approximately 60 students a year. Classes are broken into smaller groups for tutorial sessions. Students work closely with their peers and the academic team. There's an established programme of inter-professional learning across all four years of the BN programme with the opportunity to work with a range of healthcare students including undergraduate medical, pharmacy and paramedic students.
